"Compelling plot mixed with hot sex"
Sergeant Vanessa (Von) Ramirez, United North American
States Army Rangers, is on a mission. Even though she's
the last one left, she will complete her mission. She
begins reciting the Ranger's Code to keep herself focused
while waiting for the subject of her mission to appear.
Now she's alone. All alone. And that doesn't exactly fill
her with comfort. According to the Ranger's Code, she had
no choice but to kill Jackson when it became obvious he
wouldn't be able to continue. The two of them had been
lovers for a long time. Why he took the bullet meant for
her, she'll never be able to understand. Her target finally appears and killing him is the last
thing Von remembers. Soft, the first thing she's aware of, is softness. She's
in a bed! God, she can't even remember the last time she
was in a bed. How did she get here? And exactly where is
here? The only thing she can think of, is that she was
brought to a hotel. Von hears a voice commanding her to
stay in bed and she does. When she looks around to see who
the voice belongs to, who does she see, but Legolas! Pointy
ears and long blonde hair, slender body, everything! It
turns out Legolas isn't an elf at all. He's a Siddhe and
his name is Pajja. Somehow, her wounds have healed and
she's going to survive. When Legolas, or Pajja, tells her
it is her duty to survive, Von is in shock. What is there
to live for? Her lover is dead. Everyone is dead. The
entire world has changed, nothing is left. No crops, no
power, nothing. What will Von decide to do? And what of Pajja? Will he
help her? Even though DRAGON'S WATCH 1: GARGOYLE isn't part of the
NORTHLANDER or WOLF series, it is connected. I absolutely
love Shelby Morgen's stories and this one is no exception.
The one character connecting all these books together is
Pajja, the King of the Siddhe in the NORTHLANDER books. He
even played a part in THRESHOLD: VOLUME 2. Shelby Morgen
combines a compelling plot with hot sex in such a way to
keep me turning pages. Her characters are all realistic,
right down to having flaws, her plots are all compelling
and the one underlying theme is love. Shelby Morgen is an
author you don't want to miss and I highly recommend
DRAGON'S WATCH 1: GARGOYLE.

SummaryThe Mission: Take down a renegade gang that's threatening
to destroy what little is left of law and order in the
United North American States. There's only one problem. The
bad guys out number the UNAS Rangers twelve to one. As if
that isn't trouble enough, there's a Dragon on Von's tail --
and when the Dragon turns out to be one hot, sexy Elf,
things really heat up.
In a tale inspired by a Dragon-Gargoyle who played guardian
over Philadelphia's Sci-Fi Fantasy convention, PhilCon
2003, Shelby Morgen manages to destroy the world -- and
rebuild it with a tiny spark of hope for mankind.
One Ranger, one Riot.
I will complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.
