"Well-plotted and exciting fantasy world"

Tyriel is part gypsy and part elf, which makes her uniquely beautiful. She earns her living as a hired contract warrior. Although she is a magically gifted, she does not openly profess this skill.

Aryn of Olsted is also a contract warrior who carries an ancient sword that is possessed by the spirit of a Jiupsu, a high priest named Irian who sometimes possesses Aryn -- with his consent.

Tyriel and Aryn journey together as mercenaries and fall for each other. Aryn wants to keep the relationship strictly business but Tyriel seeks otherwise. As they work together, an enemy from Tyriel's past is hunting her and when he captures her, Aryn realizes his mistake in not professing his love for Tyriel. Can he reach her before her enemy destroys her?

This story is told in flashbacks during Tyriel's imprisonment. It is a well-plotted story with great characters. Ms. Walker has created a familiar but exciting fantasy world and her scenes and descriptions are engaging. I enjoyed this story, and other readers will too.

Summary
