REVIEW

"A journey across galaxies and cultures -- to love"

Jenna has known for several years that she was destined to be mated with an alien -- one of a dominant race known as the Leors. A vision long ago foretold her fate, and Jenna knows that nothing she does will alter it. She must accept that which she cannot change, and hope for the best.

When Arion arrives to negotiate a trade -- one willing wife, for the lives of two colonies of Shielders - Jenna steps forward and offers herself.

In a whirlwind of events, she soon finds herself on the hot, dry planet Arion calls home, surrounded by Leors and their slaves, in a culture she barely knows anything about. With only the android Maxine as an ally and source of information, Jenna must quickly come to accept that which she doesn't understand -- and would never have expected to condone.

While the physical attraction between them threatens to boil out of control, Jenna and Arion find themselves at odds again and again, as they both struggle to compromise and accept each other despite their differences.

SHADOW FIRES is without a doubt Catherine Spangler's best novel yet. With brief appearances from Chase McKnight and family, Max, and the blue-feathered Lani, SHADOW FIRES continues the storyline of the first four novels, while taking us deeper into culture of the Leors and pulling at out heartstrings.

Ms. Spangler shines, her talent wonderfully evident as she takes us a journey across galaxies, cultures, and brings us to a perfect understanding of her characters, their motivation, and their very personalities.

I am looking forward to future novels by one of romance's brightest stars.
