"Appearances can be deceiving..."
FBI Agent Donovan McCormick has never gotten over the murder
of his pregnant wife several years ago. He knows the mob
boss behind the murders may never go to jail, unless Angelo
Torrelli, the mob boss's son, lives to testify against his
father. Donovan is glad to work the protection detail in
this case. He desires the daughter of Angelo's mistress,
well-known movie star Kitty Dupree, but knows that he can't
risk his heart again. Will Donovan let his body rule his
actions? For a short while, at least? Florist and avid gardener Cori Nichols finds this mysterious
FBI agent alluring. She feels out of control around him, so
she stays away for months, until she goes home to challenge
the rumors circulating about him and her mother. Is Kitty
really married to him, now? Amid many twists and turns, Cori
learns that Donovan only has eyes for her even though they
have no chance at a real future. Plot twists galore ensue, making it impossible to tell more
here without spoilers. So instead, just remember to take
everything that occurs with a grain of salt and wait for
confirmation to any new complication that arises. Cori and
Donovan love each other, but will circumstances contrive to
keep them apart? Are Torrelli's men the only threat out
there? Or does someone else have it in for Kitty and her
family? In the midst of a media circus, it's hard to tell
friend from foe. Be forewarned that there is violence and deaths in the
story, which may be disturbing to some readers. And the
melodrama gets to be too much at times. If you can handle a
little over-the-top dramatics, SECOND CHANCES is a good way
to escape reality for a while. Fans of romantic suspense
will enjoy the latest effort from Ms. Snodgrass. Sensuality: Explicit sex; sexually explicit scenes: 4

SummaryLove and relationship are the last things federal agent
Donovan McCormick wants. His first marriage ended when his
wife and child were killed because he refused to turn over
the man he was protecting. He refuses to put another woman,
another love in jeopardy.
Love is also the lowest priority on Corey Nichols's list. In
fact, it isn't even on her list. She was burned once before
when the man she loved used her for his own sick gain. No
more.
Now Donovan and Corey have stepped into each other's
circles. Do they give love a second chance or shove aside
these burning emotions?
Or will giving love a second chance also mean giving a
murderer a second chance at revenge?
