Summary

Settle back in your seat and let the curtain come up to reveal a story of unwilling lust coupled with darkly erotic fantasies, and a heated attraction that can't be denied. The chance to have her play produced off-Broadway brings Chicago born-and-bred Genera McCanton to New York City. But her romantic visions of being produced in the Big Apple don't measure up to the reality; she's homesick, the theater is a wreck, and the play's producer is a pain in the rear.

Things come to a head when Genera is forced to accept the producer's brother, well-known photographer's model Edward Aldin, in the role as the leading man of her play. Even worse, despite her resentment, Genera can't explain the sexual attraction she has to the man -- an attraction that plagues her almost every waking and sleeping moment.

For his part, Edward is still in mourning for the fiancée he lost in the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center towers, yet the grief doesn't seem to be getting in the way of the incredibly hot dreams and visions he has of the feisty playwright.

Can Genera and Edward overcome their emotional baggage and hostility to find a common ground beyond a reluctant physical hunger and the occasional game of chess? Or is theirs a backstage affair, doomed to violently flare during the run of a play, only to become ice-cold after the final performance?
