"Will a police detective learn to accept her, psychic powers and all?"
Attorney Susan Rivers has been fighting her intense
attraction to detective Jake Matherly for nearly a year now.
She can't fight it any longer. So she's going to have a
one-night stand and then go back to her lonely existence.
Susan is afraid to have any kind of meaningful relationship
because her psychic powers -- "true seeing" as she calls
it -- would drive away any man interested in her. Jake is stunned when Susan shows up on his doorstep after
repeatedly turning him down for dates. He wants more than
one night, but he can't say no to sex with her. He is even
more surprised when Susan tears out of his apartment like a
bat out of hell after their third bout of lovemaking (in
under an hour, no less!). Jake is determined to find out
what's up with Susan -- right after he takes care of the
case he's called out on. The last thing Susan wants is to see Jake again that night,
but fate has other plans. When Susan stumbles upon a murder
scene, Jake and his partner are the detectives sent to the
scene. He never expected to see Susan in an official
capacity. As Susan is interviewed, Jake knows that Susan
isn't telling all that she knows. And he vows to get to the
bottom of the matter. Will he be able to convince Susan to tell her secrets before
someone else is killed? Will Jake believe Susan if she
admits to her psychic abilities? After all, her own mother
rejected Susan after the abilities began to appear. How
would Susan cope if Jake turns his back on her, too? Can
Susan live with herself if she does nothing and more people
die? TRUE SEEING is a fast, intense read. Susan and Jake are
interesting characters (although I didn't really care for
Susan's two best friends). Jake is a tolerant man and he
quickly accepts Susan for all that she is. Little by little,
he chips away at her defenses. Ms. Wyndfield has penned an
absorbing paranormal romance. Sensuality: Explicit sex; sexually explicit scenes: 7.
