REVIEW

"New Vamps on the Block"

It's a world where vampires have enlisted the help of mortal doctors, an age where the traditional enemies of their kind — sunlight, silver, etc -- have been mostly eliminated by great strides in the vampiric medical community.

Alec Reynard, Prime of the Fox Clan, is one such vampire. He has dedicated himself to protecting and promoting the humans in the world, to keeping them safe from the predators that walk among them — but his treatment has gone wacky. He heads for a clinic in Los Angeles... and finds his soulmate.

She is Domini Lancer, a bodyguard, and a good one. She's strong, she's fast, and she's psychic. The new guard signing on to her grandfather's business — her new partner — is unlike anyone she's ever encountered. He intrigues her. But between their new assignment and the strange dreams she's been having — of vampires! — she has too much on her plate to start thinking about forming an emotional attachment to the mysterious ex-military man.

I BURN FOR YOU is not Sizemore's first vampire novel, or her first romance, though it is the first time she's combined the two. Let's hope that it's not her last. Suspenseful and well-plotted, BURN is a magnificent read. Alec is a superb hero — strong, otherworldly, dangerous, and yet very protective of Domini. Domini is a strong, kick- ass type of heroine, and since vampire society is matriarchal, she's the type of woman who can not only deal with Alec, but get his respect. They're great together, both as a bodyguard team and romantically. Sizemore's world- building is good, too, from the creation of clans to her invention of medical treatments — the kind that Alec is having so much trouble with throughout the book. While it's too early to tell if Sizemore is going to make a habit of writing these delicious novels, it's not hard to see that Christine Feehan may have some competition in the sexy vampire hero market.

Summary

The world holds great danger for Alec Reynard and his kind. As the dark hollows of his soul threaten to overwhelm him, he undergoes secret medical treatments that allow him to bear daylight. Living a double life as a bodyguard, he must also battle the powerful chemistry that explodes between him and Domini Lancer, a mere mortal—and unbelievably, his soulmate.

Domini knows nothing of Alec's true nature. But when danger threatens, he kidnaps her to his clan's stronghold to protect her...and there, he can no longer hide who—or what—he is. As the forces aligned against Domini draw near, Alec wonders whether she'll accept the darkness within him—or whether she's actually a vampire slayer who's cleverly infiltrated his clan.
