REVIEW

"Finding Love the Second Time Around"

Anabelle Crane moved across the country after a heart- breaking love affair and became an undercover policewoman in Seattle. Getting hurt on the job ten years later brought her home to New York to visit her special friends Dan and Nora. She has many unhappy memories concerning her abusive stepbrothers but Serenity House was her lifesaver so many years ago. Serenity House is a home where teenage girls from abusive homes find assistance and love.

Anabelle finds her old love, Nathan, is being stalked and because she still loves him and his daughter, she offers to become his bodyguard thinking that she can handle the situation. Nathan had been married ten years before and is now engaged to Barbara who is not happy with the bodyguard arrangement. He is a congressman and has a long list of possible stalkers. As the stalker escalates his harassment, the attraction and love grow between Anabelle and Nathan but Barbara also needs Nathan so that he is torn in two directions.

AGAINST THE ODDS is another SuperRomance written by Kathryn Shay about Serenity House and the women who live or work there. Anabelle has never stopped loving Nathan but his problems are complicated and she gets a lot of support from her friends. The stalking takes a back seat to the romance. AGAINST THE ODDS is a well-written and interesting book about a woman who has had a lot of hurt in her life and finds it difficult to trust. Nathan is a nice guy trying to do the right thing but the deck always seems to be stacked against him. In the tradition of the Serenity House series, it is an absorbing book that will keep the reader's attention. Kathryn Shay is an author to watch.

Anabelle Crane had once loved Nathan Hyde. But his betrayal forced them apart and sent her packing—all the way to Seattle. Now she's a cop and she's put her life back together, convinced that she's over Nathan.

But when she comes home to recuperate from a gunshot wound, she learns that he's in danger. So Anabelle goes undercover, telling herself she's guarding Nathan for his daughter's sake. But while Anabelle's protecting Nathan from harm, nobody's protecting her from Nathan. And she's falling for him all over again!
