The opening of this trilogy introduces you to Laird Greylen MacKeage and three of his men. The year is somewhere in the 12th century, when men fought for survival. Greylen didn't become Laird because he was soft. There is only one problem. On a hill overlooking the fight between the four MacKeage men and the six MacBains is a wizard.

Pendaar has watched over Greylen all of his life because a child of Greylens will be Pendaar's heir. The powers that be would only let him see one of the parents that would beget his heir but not both of them. This is how Pendaar is in his present circumstances. He sends all the warriors to present day.

Our heroine Grace Sutter is a very modern woman. Her occupation is rocket scientist, which intimidates most males. Grace has a promise to her sister to keep: to take Mary's baby home to his father. On the way home to Maine the small engine plane crashes with Grace, the baby, and Greylen in it.

CHARMING THE HIGHLANDER is a mixing of primitive warrior Tarzan meets modern day Jane. The results are wonderful and also aggravating. Greylen and Grace have to learn to trust each other and the feelings they start to have for one another.

CHARMING THE HIGHLANDER is the debut novel by Janet Chapman and shows there are still strong, loyal, dedicated men who don't have to use their strength to get what they want. I am looking foreword to reading Greylen's half-brother Morgan MacKeage's story in LOVING THE HIGHLANDER. The final story in the trilogy is WEDDING THE HIGHLANDER, Robbie MacBain's story, due out this October.
