Renowned for her best-selling cozies starring a witty septuagenarian, Devon Michaels has an opportunity to sign a million-dollar book deal. All she has to do change the star to a hip female swinger as the star of erotic thrillers. Though over thirty, Devon has hardly been sexually active and her torrid scenes reflect her limited expense, as the love scenes are iceberg city rather than the blazing heat of a romantic suspense.

While she struggles with her erotica passages, Devon pictures herself making love with Community Police Academy instructor Detective Jake Tanner. He is attracted to his star pupil also. Encouraged by her best friend, Elizabethan author Sydney "Slow Burn" Colburn, reticent Devon asks Jake to help her reach her sensual side. Thinking backwards from the climax he wants, Jake dreams of a more permanent undercover assignment with Devon.

Julie Elizabeth Leto provides readers with a lighthearted romantic romp that good-naturedly pokes fun at authors as the story line never takes itself too seriously. The lead couple is a pleasant duo and the support cast adds to the frolic that leads the audience to answer Ms. Leto's title question with a sequel starring Slow Burn.
